Kon Tiki Milestone

Flattr this!

Last night, a defining moment in this project’s history was reached. We finally made Vitaboy, the character rendering system for the game, work, as shown in the below screenshot.

This means that the Kon Tiki milestone is 83% done, and give or take another month of development, we will have released the first running version of Project Dollhouse. It won’t have any gameplay, but you’ll be able to create a character and store it on our server.

We’ve decided to go with aws for our server solution, so by the time the first client is released, you can log onto a development server hosted by us.

After 1 year, 6 months and 29 days of development, we are finally nearing land. As I am writing this, I’m sitting atop Kon Tikis mast, seeing the first birds fly by after over a year at sea.

Also, flattr buttons are now working, so feel free to flattr away!

The entire team would finally like to extend our heartfelt condolances to all families affected by the Boston bombing.

  1. WOOHOOOO!, this really good news thank you thank you sooooo much project dollhouse/niotso team!, by the time i’m able to create my character I’m gunna be pumped up and generous enough to even donate a good amount of money to you guys!, if it means you’ll be able to finish 2 or 3 months after our character’s are done 😀

  2. While i think it’s really great to make tso work again, i keep asking myself, why r u guys not creating a new game?
To bring tso back, there could always be problems with EA because they don’t want you to do it.
Making a new game wouldn’t bring this risk with it.

    • The risk is basically non-existant. First of all, EA doesn’t care, or they would have contacted us by now.
Secondly, there really isn’t anything they can do. It is not illegal to develop software that can read certain formats, and you cannot make a copyright claim on a format.

  3. I have never played the TSO before but I have played the sims first so I really cannot wait for TSO to come back. I have heard of the game and thought it was a really awesome game and I could not wait to play it until I heard that the game had a major shutdown and no one could play it :,( so i found out more about TSO and found this place 🙂 I really wish I had a chance to play and now I may have the chance to actually play. Thanks to those who helped try to make a dream come true thank you! 🙂
