Character creation done

Flattr this!

First character created in the database. Ever.

First character created in the database. Ever.

Character creation is now done. It went surprisingly smooth, taking only a few hours. If transitioning to the CityServer goes as smoothly, the first milestone will be done within the next week.

From there on out, what remains is to go live with the servers, which is an issue in an of itself, as it requires a lot of configuration and general messing about. But the first milestone will go live before Christmas, that is a promise!

    • No. The first milestone will support character creation only. Any actual gameplay is still far away, though we do have lot rendering code already. What’ll take time is implementing the SimAntics VM and all the related networking code.

      • Afr0 – You and your team are awesome and amazing! Thank you, thank you for ALL your hard work on this! I am feeling hope again LOL So proud of you guys! ^_^

  3. Looking forward to it! I’m so glad to see this project is still going. I’ve only been following for a few months but I always worry development will just die out one day.

This is great news though! Wish I knew more about network and server handling. >.<

  4. If anything,I know why we can’t have it yet is because we need to find out how to go to a place to Sign Up at and then test Logging In to see if we were successful. Until thats probably done,Maybe we can then play,And create our sims for the moment. But if anything,When first milestone is out,Our way to finally getting gameplay someday in 2014-(hopefully not)2015.

  6. Fantastic news! I’ve been following TSO Restoration and now Project Dollhouse for about two years now and I’m glad to see some progress. The first milestone is a huge step in development and I couldn’t be happier! Could there be a better Christmas present?

The best of luck, I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it is programming the game πŸ˜‰

  11. My wife peed herself a little when we found this. When I tried to run the client, it said that there were no EA products installed. What do we need to do to run the client (I have repeatedly told her that it is only in testing phase still, but she insists on trying it out)?

  12. Also, I am a C# programmer, but I don’t have any experience with XNA (as a matter of fact, I only have about 2 years experience). I might be interested in helping out with coding this project sometime later this year (it being new years day 2014 right now), if you could point me to some relevant resources to study to bring myself up to speed.
